Connectivity & Security

PracticeLink™ enables secure, remote GP access to patient data and lowers IT infrastructure management overheads for GP practices

Overview

Having worked with public sector organisations on projects such as GCSx Codes of Connection, NHS N2 and N3 connections and being a lead contributor to the setup of the London Public Sector Network (LPSN), we are ideally placed to help organisations requiring secure connectivity and secure IT infrastructure development.

Our infrastructure solution comprising of our bespoke hardware, software and consultancy is called PracticeLink™. PracticeLink allows GP practices and other health organisations to share sensitive information securely across public and private networks and between different physical locations, whether this be for internal or external use.

PracticeLink is compliant with NHS CfH Information Governance Toolkit standards and follows the NHS Infrastructure Maturity Model (NIMM).

Scope

Local Authorities and health trusts are facing a significant challenge in how to deliver cost-effective, joined up services that support the government’s aim of providing people-centred care that serves the community.

PracticeLink provides frontline healthcare delivery organisations such as GP practices and care homes with an infrastructure that is secure, stable and scalable; the three pre-requisites necessary for a successful infrastructure.

PracticeLink is able to scale as business demands grow and the architecture is flexible enough to accommodate growth as more organisations cluster in the new GP consortia model.

Benefits of PracticeLink™

PracticeLink is designed to create a secure and compliant infrastructure that facilitates the sharing of information, but also brings about considerable benefits to members of an organisation.

It improves the productivity of IT technicians by reducing the need to travel to remote locations through enabling the use of remote management, diagnosis and fix functions, and support; it allows organisations to take advantage of new application models such as software-as-a-service (SAAS) and virtualisation; and it complies with legislation for secure information sharing as mandated by the Department of Work and Pensions, and the Department of Health.

Due to the flexible nature of the PracticeLink solution, an Active Directory can be incorporated which makes common issues such as communication between and among GP practices and PCTs easier to overcome.

For mobile workers, particularly in health trusts, social care functions and organisations working with vulnerable people, PracticeLink allows remote, secure access to information from wherever they are working.

PracticeLink also compliments Hytec’s other product toolsets, such as Integral Xchange™ and Integral mForms® to create an entire information sharing and remote access gateway for all staff within an organisation.

PracticeLink™ Infrastructure Review Service

To help assess an organisation’s infrastructure requirements, we recommend a review of the current infrastructure in place, which will determine the requirements of the PracticeLink solution.
