Infrastructure Design

Local government and NHS organisations are increasingly looking to 'join up' services but often lack in-house infrastructure design skills. Hytec can help.

Overview

The ability to connect with and share data appropriately is a fundamental requirement for public sector organisations; the more specialised the services that are to be delivered, the more data will need to be shared.

This information is regarded, quite rightly, by the Government to be worthy of appropriate and sometimes seemingly onerous Information Governance standards.

This service is suitable for any organisation, public or private sector, that’s looking to take stock of its current infrastructure requirements and decide where it needs to be in the future, for growth or compliance requirements.

Hytec’s long history of working with organisations in both the public and private sector means we are fully aware, and keep ourselves up to date with, current compliance requirements; these are taken fully into consideration when evaluating the IT infrastructure design.

An organisation's network tends to grow organically as new systems are installed to keep up with the needs of the organisation. However, it's important for IM&T managers to take a step back and evaluate their IT infrastructure to identify potential issues that could come to light in the future.

What has Hytec done before?

Hytec has a pedigree over the last 15 years of enabling the appropriate technologies and management processes to adhere to these standards to allow both the connectivity and data sharing to be achieved. Some examples are listed below:

We have facilitated the connections to the Health network (N3 and previously NHSNet) for large corporates such as Bayer, Roche and Abbot Laboratories.

We have also designed and implemented significant network implementations, such as the London Public Service Network (LPSN), which facilitates the information sharing infrastructure for the 33 London Boroughs and provides them with secure access to the Health N3 network and the Government Secure Intranet (GCSx) as well as providing them with the means of exchanging data between the Boroughs.

We are currently working on Personalisation and Self-Directed Support projects, Single Assessment for Older People (SAP), the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), the Electronic Social Care Record (ESCR) and the NHS's Connecting for Health programme.

What current projects are Hytec working on?

We are currently working with a number of regional networks that will become Direct Connection Service Providers (DNSPs) for the Public Sector Network, which is destined to be the network of networks for UK public sector organisations. Our CLAS consultants are working with the regional networks and Cabinet Office on these ground breaking projects, giving them early access to the Information Assurance regime for PSN.

In the past, Hytec were members of the GCSx Accreditation Working Group, by invitation. We are also in regular dialogue with the NHS regarding N3 Information Assurance regimes, and routinely review new versions of the N3 Information Assurance statement prior to release by Connecting for Health.
