Since
its foundation in 1980, Hytec has specialised
in the need for computer systems requiring connection
to and integration with ICL mainframe systems.
Hytec's extensive experience in Open Systems communications
has resulted in the development of SONNET; a family
of Open Systems Interconnection products to facilitate
multi-vendor operation in the ICL environment.
SONNET
provides a reliable, secure communications link
between all major UNIX
platforms and the ICL VME Mainframe, and is currently
installed on over 1400 servers worldwide in many
different environments, including:

Although
the ICL VME user-base is no longer growing, there
are still many systems in use and the data considered
a major asset by all organisations. Most organisations,
therefore, have a requirement to utilise the mainframe
data within applications running on other platforms
and make this mandatory in many Invitations to
Tender.

a reliable communications link between an ICL
VME Mainframe and UNIX Systems can be a Technical
nightmare for many organisations whose ‘key
competencies’ lie in other areas. With this
