Blue Coat solutions dramatically increase the protection and control of enterprise Web infrastructures. Blue Coat's ProxySG appliances protect corporate networks against dangerous Web-based viruses, unfiltered inbound and outbound Web communication and inappropriate Web content.

Scaleable, from medium-sized organisations to the largest of enterprises, the ProxySG range provides a secure proxy platform for deploying and controlling web services. The applications include 'best-of-breed' content filtering products from Websense, SurfControl and Secure Computing. Other facilities include anti virus scanning from Finjan, IM traffic control, Pop-Up Ad Blocking, Bridging Support, Native FTP and DNS Proxy.

In their July 2003 report, IDC recognises Blue Coat as the overall leader in Secure Content Management Appliances with 33% market share - more than triple that of its nearest competitor.

Hytec has worked closely with Blue Coat in developing a Web Traffic Assessment Service to identify client security threats introduced through internal usage of the Internet. Utilising Blue Coat's ProxySG secure proxy appliance, installed seamlessly within the client's network, Hytec consultants are able to monitor all web traffic (24x7) and provide a detailed report of Internet usage. The report identifies web content accessed, Instant Messaging (IM) abuse, and usage of browser-based applications, employee productivity issues, legal liabilities (if any), security vulnerabilities and network bandwidth issues.

Within a week, clients can review their organisation's use of the Internet and identify any security threats introduced, such as:
