We employ 70 solution architects, consultants, developers, project managers and support staff from offices in Eynsham (near Oxford), Cwmbran (near Newport), Teddington and Glasgow.
Formed in 1980
Initially established as Hytec Microsystems in June 1980, the company provided IT solutions, particularly mainframe communications protocols, to government, health and commercial organisations. In recent years, we have focused on information security, specifically the design of secure infrastructures and secure connectivity between networks such as the government's GCSx and the NHS N3.
We are an active member of Socitm (The Society of IT Managers). We regularly exhibit at Socitm's annual conference and sponsor a number of Branch meetings.
The merger with OLM Group in 2008 has enabled Hytec to grow into the company it is today - a unified business with a single market focus and world class expertise in each of four complimentary technology areas:

An ISO 9001 Certified Company (Quality Management)
Originally registered in January 1993, our quality management systems are externally audited every year to ensure continuing compliance with the ISO 9001 standard. ISO 9001 provides a number of requirements which an organisation needs to fulfill if it is to achieve customer satisfaction through consistent products and services which meet customer expectations.

Since April 2001, we have continually satisfied external assessors that Hytec meets the stringent standards associated with the Investors in People accreditation.

An ISO 27001 Certified Company (Information Security Management)
In May 2006 we became one of the UK's first organisations to achieve certification to the ISO 27001 standard.
The assessment process required a detailed review of our ISMS (Information Security Management System) covering information security policies, computer infrastructures, remote access for mobile users, authentication controls, information encryption and storage, back-ups, personnel and physical security.
Through our own experience, and our membership of BSI's Associate Consultant Programme, we are uniquely placed to help other organisations achieve or maintain ISO 27001 certification.

Since 2006, Hytec has been a member of BSI's Associate Consultant Programme (ACP). As a certification body, BSI Management Systems is unable to provide consultancy services and recognises specialist consultancies able to carry out such work.
Hytec consultants and ISO 27001 experts have considerable experience in assisting organisations to achieve the ISO 27001 Information Security Standard.
