April 2009: OLM Systems announces CareMobile WAC
Developed by Hytec’s mobile data team, OLM Systems have used their ‘Next Steps’ conference to announce the availability of a new enhancement to the CareFirst portfolio of solutions for social care. CareMobile WAC, or to use its full name - CareMobile Worker Assistant Component, is a powerful remote working application which allows social workers to retrieve up-to-date information from CareFirst onto a PDA, without any need to physically connect to the office network.
The product was developed using Hytec’s Integral mForms® development toolkit, CareMobile WAC provides two way ‘live’ update of information in CareFirst to enable mobile care worker to securely retrieve their activities, messages and case notes so they remain informed while on the road.

The system also offers a unique alert feature for lone workers. Available through a prominent on-screen instant alarm button or a timed monitoring function, when an alarm event is triggered multiple contacts can be alerted via SMS message and email, thereby quickly alerting a user’s colleagues that they require assistance.
Secure solution
CareMobile WAC is a secure solution. Users have to authenticate themselves by providing a user name and password, and case data on the mobile device is encrypted, as is data as it traverses the wireless networks. CareMobile WAC comes with two options to further enhance security: end-point security (compliant with FIPS140-2 standards) or a mobile VPN facility, with two-factor authentication (compliant with the Codes of Connection requirements for GCSx).
